DMV Roleplay
Server Guidelines
Welcome to DMV Roleplay. These guidelines are in place to maintain a serious, enjoyable, and fair roleplay environment.
By playing within DMV Roleplay, you are responsible for knowing and following all server rules.
Not every possible situation can be written into a rulebook. Staff may use reasonable discretion when handling situations that negatively affect the quality of roleplay.
Punishment Classes

Punishments are baselines only and may change depending on severity, player history, intent, and the situation presented.
Community Conduct
Punishment Class A–D depending on severity
All members must treat others with respect both in-game and out-of-character.
The following are prohibited:
- Harassment
- Sexual harassment
- Excessive personal attacks
- Threats or intimidation
- Leaking private information
- Excessive OOC toxicity
- Targeting players for OOC reasons
- Disrespect involving real-life deceased individuals
- Encouraging others to harass community members
Your actions should always have reasonable roleplay justification.
Common Courtesy
Punishment Class A–D depending on severity
Players must make a reasonable effort to maintain roleplay at all times.
Examples of violations:
- Combat logging
- Refusing to roleplay
- Purposely avoiding roleplay
- Failing to roleplay injuries
- Ignoring serious vehicle crashes
- Going AFK to avoid a situation
- Ignoring staff instructions
- OOC toxicity
- Unapproved asset transferring
- Exploiting bugs or mechanics
- Poor escalation before attacking another player
If you discover an exploit or serious bug, report it instead of using it.
Metagaming
Punishment Generally Class C
Metagaming is using information your character did not obtain in-character.
Examples:
- Using Discord information in-game
- Watching someone's stream while interacting with them
- Using stream chat information
- Using external calls to gain information during roleplay
- Giving OOC information for IC use
- Using information learned on another character
All information used in-character must be obtained in-character.
Powergaming
Punishment Generally Class B
Powergaming is forcing unrealistic actions, abusing mechanics, or removing another player's reasonable opportunity to react.
Examples:
- Talking while fully incapacitated
- Forcing actions through
/me - Exploiting mechanics for an advantage
- Repeated unrealistic driving
- Exploiting health systems during fights
- Performing unrealistic actions
RDM / VDM
Punishment Class A–C depending on severity
- RDM
- Attacking or killing another player without proper roleplay escalation.
- VDM
- Intentionally using a vehicle as a weapon without proper roleplay justification.
Accidental collisions are not automatically VDM.
Revenge Killing
You may not respawn and return to kill the person responsible for your previous death.
New Life Rule — NLR
Punishment Generally Class B
After respawning, your character forgets the immediate events surrounding their death.
You may not:
- Immediately return to where you died
- Retrieve items lost during the previous scene
- Revenge kill
- Continue the conflict using information from your previous life
- Create another character to retaliate
Not Valuing Life — NVL
Punishment Generally Class B
Players must reasonably value their character's life.
Examples:
- Ignoring a firearm aimed directly at you without a reasonable escape
- Intentionally entering obviously deadly situations
- Ignoring reasonable demands while completely defenseless
- Disregarding a hostage's life without justification
Context matters.
Abuse of Game Physics
Punishment Generally Class A with escalation for repeated offenses
Do not abuse GTA mechanics for an unrealistic advantage.
Examples:
- Bunny hopping
- Spam punching
- Combat rolling
- Unrealistic continuous swimming
- Job vehicle abuse
- Emote cancel abuse
- Animation abuse
- Exploiting mechanics during gunfights
Third-Party Modifications
Punishment Class D
Any modification that provides an unfair advantage is prohibited.
Examples:
- Cheats
- Trainers
- Unauthorized crosshairs
- Advantageous tracers
- Unlimited stamina
- Unauthorized FOV modifications
- Combat-enhancing visual modifications
- Unauthorized audio modifications
- Software designed to manipulate gameplay
Purely cosmetic modifications are only allowed if they provide no competitive advantage.
Safezones / Greenzones
Punishment Generally Class B
Criminal activity may not normally be initiated inside designated safezones.
Examples may include:
- Spawn locations
- Government buildings
- Police facilities
- Fire / EMS facilities
- Hospitals
- Dealerships
- Banks
- DMV locations
- Clothing stores
- Barber shops
- Tattoo shops
- Designated garages
- Player-owned businesses while operating
- Protected server events
You may not:
- Rob players inside safezones
- Start fights inside safezones
- Steal vehicles inside safezones
- Intentionally provoke players inside safezones
Running into a safezone does not automatically end a roleplay situation that began outside of it.
Robberies / Scamming
Robberies and scams must have proper roleplay behind them.
You may not:
- Force ATM withdrawals
- Force vehicle ownership transfers
- Force players to hand over assets they do not physically have
- Rob without proper escalation
- Rob players solely because they appear wealthy
- Loot random downed players
- Rob players performing protected civilian jobs
- Rob inside safezones
- Use OOC information to determine someone's assets
- Chain rob players unrealistically
All announced robbery limits and cooldowns must be followed.
Illegal Activities
Criminal roleplay should focus on story and interaction, not simply winning gunfights or making money.
Players must follow all announced limits regarding:
- Maximum participants
- Robbery cooldowns
- Faction attacks
- Civilian attacks
- Weapon usage
- Hostages
- Criminal events
Poorly developed criminal scenes may result in punishment.
Multiple Characters
Characters belonging to the same player must remain separate.
You may not:
- Transfer knowledge between characters
- Use multiple characters to benefit the same storyline
- Revenge another one of your characters
- Create characters solely to support your other character's faction
- Transfer assets between characters without authorization
New characters should have their own identity and storyline.
Government Corruption
Punishment Class A–D depending on severity
Government employees may not abuse their position for personal or criminal gain unless specifically approved.
Examples:
- Giving government weapons to unauthorized players
- Taking confiscated money or items
- Using government information to assist criminals
- Using privileged access to set players up
- Improperly distributing legal firearms
- Participating in prohibited criminal activity while holding restricted government positions
Refunds
In-game refunds must go through the official Refund Request process.
Only Lead Quality Control+ may review, approve, or deny refunds.
Players must provide sufficient proof of their loss.
Failure to provide proof may result in denial.
Real-World Trading
Punishment Class A–D depending on severity
Trading DMV Roleplay assets for real-world money or items outside approved server systems is prohibited.
Examples:
- Selling vehicles for real money
- Selling weapons/items through Cash App, PayPal, etc.
- Buying character assets with real-world currency
- Selling in-game currency
Vehicle Sales
Vehicle sales must follow all current DMV Roleplay economy and pricing restrictions.
Players may not use vehicle sales to artificially transfer large amounts of money or bypass server economy rules.
Obscene Roleplay
Punishment Up to Class D
Sensitive roleplay requires clear consent from everyone involved.
If someone withdraws consent, the scene must stop immediately.
The following are strictly prohibited:
- Sexual assault roleplay
- Rape roleplay
- Nonconsensual sexual touching
- Sexual roleplay involving minors
- Similar nonconsensual sexual scenarios
Sensitive scenes should never involve or take place around uninvolved players.
Administration Discretion
Staff may intervene when a player's actions significantly damage the roleplay environment even if the exact situation is not specifically written within these guidelines.
Administrative discretion must be used reasonably and consistently.
Final Reminders
- Roleplay over winning
- Remain in character
- Proper escalation is required
- Do not abuse game mechanics
- Do not use OOC information IC
- Respect other community members
- Follow staff instructions
- Do not exploit loopholes in the rules
- Repeated offenses may result in harsher punishment
- If you are unsure whether something is allowed, ask staff before doing it
